Targeted safety upgrades to be carried out along on Douglas–Garbutt Road include:
- minor intersection upgrades
- new turning lanes
- line marking and signage improvements
- active transport upgrades including new sections of green bicycle lanes and new pedestrian infrastructure

- other road safety enhancements.

Fulham Road to Pixley Crescent south
- Installation of central median fencing
Tyler Street intersection
- Removal of the right turn onto Nathan Street (motorists will need to utilise signalised intersections at Charles Street or Fulham Road)
Leopold Street intersection
- Removal of the right turn onto Nathan Street
Bergin Street intersection
- Reshaping the median of Bergin Street with the inclusion of a raised pedestrian crossing installed at the slip lane
- Refreshed line marking and inclusion of a dedicated bicycle lane crossing the Bergin Street intersection
- Update of signage
- Installation of central median fence
Alfred Street intersection
- Removal of left turn slip lane from Nathan Street – lanes will include one dedicated left turn lane and two straight-through lanes
- Installation of dedicated active transport and bicycle lanes and high-speed cycle ramp
- Upgrade to pedestrian footpath including concrete pedestrian storage area and new pedestrian ramp
- Refresh line marking
Other locations – minor works including line marking and median improvements at intersections
Arthur Street intersection
- New left turn lane in front of Coles Express
- Update to line marking including a dedicated bicycle lane
Carcoola Street intersection
- Permanent speed reduction from 70km/h to 60km/h
- Inclusion of a dedicated bicycle lane across the intersection
Albert Street intersection
- Inclusion of a dedicated bicycle lane across the intersection
Fulham Road intersection
- Raised pedestrian crossings installed at slip lanes (all four legs of the intersection)
- Update to line marking including a dedicated bicycle lane
- Refreshed road signage to reflect changes
- Nathan Street between Kimball Street and Alfred Street
- Installation of central median fencing
